The quality, freshness, safety, and traceability of products.

An essential aspect of our business is that we solely import class 1 export quality product from Holland and Spain. Some 75% of our procurement volume for all provisions (including ship supply sector) is from Holland which in turn is sourced from all over the world. The Group has enjoyed an extremely close working relationship with Anaco Greeve, part of the Total Produce group, the largest European fresh produce company which has supplied Gibmaroc for many years and also with BS Bosman, one of the largest European food contract suppliers.

All of the Group’s procurement is of EU Origin.

Suppliers

We only transact business with those suppliers we have previously approved; by visiting their premises, trying and testing their range of goods and verifying working practices before we import any of their products. We keep a record and log any and all receipts of non-compliant goods from our suppliers under a “Suppliers’ Non- Conforming Register” which we constantly monitor and use as a barometer to gauge our suppliers’ performance.

Traceability

We only transact business with those suppliers we have previously approved; by visiting their premises, trying and testing their range of goods and verifying working practices before we import any of their products. We keep a record and log any and all receipts of non-compliant goods from our suppliers under a “Suppliers’ Non- Conforming Register” which we constantly monitor and use as a barometer to gauge our suppliers’ performance.

Health & Safety

The Group employs the services of Health and Safety Consultants who are responsible for both the training and updating of staff on all health and safety matters as well as reviewing the premises at frequent intervals to ensure compliance.

The services of fire safety consultants and pest control services are also employed by the Group.

All these service providers’ inspections and corresponding reports are recorded and filed accordingly.

Certification & Licensing

Gibmaroc Group is certified to ISO 9001:2015 standard. (Please see Group’s ISO Certificate, Appendix K). We have appended a copy of the latest report from SGS UK auditors (largest International Registration Body) who have recently (October 2019) carried out an in-depth audit of our company in the context of our ISO Certification renewal. SGS visit and audit our organisation every year. (Please see SGS audit findings report, Appendix L). All group companies are members of the Gibraltar Chamber of Commerce. Euroship Supplies (Group company) is a member of ISSA (International Ship Supplier’s association) and is a fully Licensed Gibraltar Port Operator.

Quality Assurance

The Group is acutely aware of the importance of quality control, particularly given our experience in fresh produce, and has been working with these issues since we commenced trading some 53 years ago (the Group only sources and delivers Class 1, export quality standard product). By having a simple but effective supply chain and ensuring appropriate quality control, we have managed to maintain a total wastage at less than 1.3% of all stocks purchased and stored within our warehouses. The importance of proper storage and quality control when dealing with perishables, chilled/ dairy and frozen goods are all the more relevant when working in a Mediterranean climate. We have enormous experience in dealing with these issues and we would refer you to the supply chain in particular. (Please see our Supply Chain, Appendix I). The Group strictly adheres to its “Quality Policy” which is clearly communicated to all team members.

Cold Storage

We have a total of some 1000m3 available divided into four areas each at different temperatures depending on category of goods. All cold storage units were acquired in 2005 and are all fitted with the appropriate safety mechanisms in terms of temperature control via thermostats, overloading and energy conservation control systems (the Group recently re-invested in new state of the art engines to replace the original ones). The fridges can be set at varying temperatures and are all fitted with the “Keep Fresh” technology. This system absorbs gases released by the produce thereby maintaining and preserving the quality and sustainability/shelf life of goods stored. We have a maintenance contract in place, where the contractor has to respond 24 hours a day 7 days a week, in case of emergency repairs and/ or general inspections. In addition to the above, we have recently acquired 300 m2 warehousing/ storage capacity at another location in Gibraltar as a contingency and back-up to our existing capacity in the context of Brexit.
